Harry Potters Birthday Celebrations

Last weekend we decided to go to our local Museums Harry Potter Birthday celebrations event.

Bethany is a massive Harry Potter fan, and so I thought this would be great fun. We booked our tickets online as we anticipated that it would be very busy.

When we arrived we went into a room which was full of Arts & Crafts. Bethany decided she wanted to make a Ravenclaw shield as she was wearing her Ravenclaw top (her favourite house is actually Griffindor).

Bethany had so much fun making her shield and she spent a lot of time on it too (with a little help from me and her Aunt).

This was the beautiful finished product.

Around the Museum were various questions about the Harry Potter films. We had been given a sheet to write the answers to the questions, these were all over the Museum and some of them were hidden fairly well. Once we had discovered them all we went to the gift shop and handed in our sheet of answers, and Beth received a sweet.

Beth also had her face painted, there were lots of designs to choose from, but this was her favourite.

Next up was my favourite part of the whole day........ potions class with Professor Snape.

We actually got to go to a real potions class, it was so much fun. We had a little jar with some kind of liquid in, and we were given various things to make the potion, such as bats snot balls and snake skin.

Once the potion was made everyone had to empty their glass jars into a big cauldron so that the potion could be poured into the machine. This then turned an Umbrella into a Bat, not any Bat though........... a Vampire Bat. It turned out we had all used Vampire Bat snot balls instead of Fruit Bats.

Beth said that this was definitely her favourite part of the day too.

Last but not least, we made a wand from twigs. This was good fun too, we got to use a peeler to strip the wood from the wand, and then decorate it using various arts and crafts.

We had a really fun day, and will definitely be going to more local events like this in the future.
